Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Tuesday, January 20, an Atlantic County jury found Harris Jacobs, 28, from Atlantic City, guilty of second-degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident.
The jury found that on September 4, 2022, Jacobs struck and killed Orlando Fraga, 76, also from Atlantic City, at approximately 3:35 a.m. on the 1800 block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City, ACPO officials say.
Surveillance video showed that Jacobs got out of his car, walked to Fraga, and on two separate occasions, leaned over Fraga’s body lying in the roadway, ACPO officials stated.
According to Atlantic County officials, Jacobs then returned to his motor vehicle and drove away.
He never notified law enforcement, Atlantic County authorities said.
