Theodore N. Stephens II said the sentence was handed down by Harold W. Fullilove Jr., who presided over both the trial and sentencing.

On October 10, 2025, a jury found Antuane Gregory, 46, guilty of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of second-degree aggravated assault, and multiple weapons offenses.

Prosecutors proved that on April 15, 2023, Gregory became involved in a verbal dispute in the 400 block of Leslie Street.

During the confrontation, he pulled out a handgun and opened fire on a group of five people.

One victim, Corey Beasley, 43, was struck four times—once in the back, once in the right leg, and twice in the left leg—and later died from his injuries.

Three additional victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds but survived. A fifth individual was fired upon but was not struck.

Assistant Prosecutors Meredith Mona and Monica Calderon tried the case for the state.

Under New Jersey’s No Early Release Act, Gregory must serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

The sentence ensures he will spend the remainder of his life in state prison.
