Officers Search Area After Multiple Rounds Fired in Paterson Overnight

Paterson police are investigating a late-night shooting incident that occurred just before midnight on Wednesday.

According to preliminary information, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the area of 2 Chestnut Street, prompting multiple patrol units to respond to the scene. 

 

When officers arrived, they secured the area and located 22 shell casings on the ground.

 

A search of the surrounding homes and buildings was conducted to ensure no one inside had been struck by gunfire. 

 

At this time, no victims have been located or reported.
 

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and remains at large. Investigators have not yet determined who the intended target may have been.
