Authorities said 27-year-old Brandon John Delgado-Ortega faces charges including third-degree driving with a suspended license, fourth-degree hindering, and several related motor vehicle summonses.

Lady Maite Cristobal Macuyama, 28, has been charged with fourth-degree hindering.

The crash occurred around 7:46 p.m. on Monday, November 10, along Jackson Mills Road just north of Tree Top Circle.

Freehold Township police responded to reports of a vehicle that had left the roadway. At the scene, officers found Delgado-Ortega and Macuyama along with two juvenile passengers seated in the rear of the vehicle.

One of the juveniles sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where the child later died on Thursday, November 13.

An investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Freehold Township police determined the vehicle involved was a 2004 Volvo S80 that ran off the road.

Investigators later identified Delgado-Ortega as the driver at the time of the crash.
