New Jersey State Police are investigating a deadly crash that occurred Thursday evening on the New Jersey Turnpike in Union County.
According to preliminary information, troopers responded to the collision at approximately 8:37 p.m. along the Turnpike’s southbound outer roadway near milepost 97.1 in Linden.
Investigators said a Mercedes passenger car driven by 72-year-old Adam Paduszynski of Matawan was traveling south in the left lane when the vehicle’s right side struck the front of a Freightliner bobtail truck.
The truck was being operated by 22-year-old Ayendy Gonzalez of Passaic.
Paduszynski sustained fatal injuries in the crash, while Gonzalez was not injured.
State Police noted the investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
