Authorities in Somerset County announced the arrest of Pamela Janiszak, 38, of Somerset, for an incident of endangering the welfare of a child, which occurred in the area of Cedar Grove Lane, Franklin Township, in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 6.

Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald stated that on Saturday, September 6, at approximately 12:25 a.m., the Franklin Township Police Department responded to a hotel located on Cedar Grove Lane for a report of an infant child with head trauma.
Upon arrival, Franklin Township police officers observed a lethargic five-month-old female victim with a large contusion to the back of her head, SCPO officials say.
According to Somerset County officials, the victim was transported to a local trauma center for emergency treatment. The victim’s mother, Pamela Janiszak, was found unconscious on a bed in the room and was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to investigate, SCPO authorities said.
Somerset County officials stated that an investigation was conducted by detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
It was determined that the victim had sustained multiple skull fractures, head swelling, and intracranial hemorrhages, SCPO officials said. The investigation revealed that the victim’s mother, Pamela Janiszak, was responsible for the infant’s injuries.
Prosecutor McDonald stated on Tuesday, September 16, 2024, Pamela Janiszak was arrested without incident in Toms River.

Defendant Janiszak was transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and processed for charges of 2nd degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Somerset County officials say.
SCPO officials stated that the defendant Janiszak was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a hearing in this matter.
