Just before 8 p.m. on September 20, 2025, security cameras alerted a business employee to an intruder on the property.

The worker, watching remotely, immediately contacted police while another employee rushed to the scene and allowed officers onto the lot.

When officers entered, they found the front door pried open and spotted a man inside holding a metal tool.

Authorities said the object was used to force entry into the building. Officers David Fox, Kochinski, and Carbone ordered the suspect out and quickly took him into custody.

Police identified the man as 61-year-old Robert Gorrie of Wayne, who had previously been arrested in June for a series of commercial burglaries in the area. His earlier cases had already been resolved in court.

Gorrie now faces new charges of burglary, hindering apprehension, possession of burglar tools, and criminal trespass.

He was transported to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Jail Intake Hub pending a detention

hearing.
