Adult Critical, Teen Hurt in Newark West Ward Shooting

Newark authorities are investigating a shooting that left two people injured late Monday afternoon.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of 16th Avenue around 5:52 p.m. on September 15, after reports of gunfire.

 

When officers arrived, they discovered property damage caused by the shooting. 

A short time later, officials were notified that two victims, a male juvenile and a male adult, had entered University Hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
 

Police said the juvenile sustained a graze wound and is listed in stable condition. 

The adult victim, however, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
