Woman Shot Dead by Boyfriend in New Jersey

A 29-year-old man from Jackson has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman at a local apartment complex on Saturday morning.

According to a statement released by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, officers responded to a 911 call around 11:00 a.m. on September 6, 2025, reporting gunfire and an unresponsive woman at the Paragon Apartment Complex on Larsen Road. 

 

Police found the victim, later identified as 28-year-old Toraya Reid of Jackson, lying near the complex exit with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Authorities said responding officers soon spotted a man running on North New Prospect Road. 

 

He was identified as Shaquille Green, who was taken into custody without incident and brought to Jackson Township Police Headquarters.

 

Investigators with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Jackson Township Police, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office determined Green, who had been in a dating relationship with Reid, was responsible for her death.
 

Green has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. 

 

He is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
