Newark

Newark police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect accused of burglarizing Integrity House in Lincoln Park earlier this month, stealing cash and personal items from residents enrolled in a drug treatment program.

According to information released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., officers responded to Integrity House on August 17 at approximately 2:51 a.m. after a burglary was reported.

Surveillance video shows the suspect entering the building through the rear and moving in and out of several rooms before leaving around 3:08 a.m.

Later that morning, staff discovered two open bookbags in a bathroom.

Investigators determined that $200 had been taken from one resident, while a second victim reported $134 in cash, a computer tablet, and a pair of Nike sneakers missing.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male who was wearing a white shirt, black shorts, and black and red sneakers during the burglary.

Investigators also believe the same individual may be connected to a separate burglary at a tanning salon on Jefferson Street that occurred on August 13.

Director Miranda urged anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the case to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

This individual targeted people who are working to rebuild their lives, and police are committed to bringing him to justice.

The investigation remains ongoing.
