DEVELOPING: Pedestrian Severely Injured After Being Struck by Car in Newark

Authorities are investigating a pedestrian strike in Newark’s North Ward that left one person with severe injuries late Monday night.

According to preliminary information, emergency responders were called to the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Heller Parkway around 9 p.m. following reports of an injured pedestrian. 

Upon arrival, they found an unidentified individual suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

 

The victim was rushed to University Hospital for treatment, where their injuries were described as severe but not further detailed. No arrests have been reported in connection with the incident.
 

The Newark Police Department has referred all inquiries to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, which is now leading the investigation. 

Authorities stated that the case remains active and ongoing, and additional details have not yet been released.
