The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a violent shooting that left a man critically injured in Paterson late Monday night.
According to preliminary reports, multiple rounds of gunfire erupted near 67 16th Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Responding officers arrived to find a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen.
Emergency medical personnel rushed the victim to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities said the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and no arrests have been reported.
Detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Shooting Response Team are leading the investigation.
