As of 4:30 a.m., temperatures on Broad and Market Street in downtown Newark were holding steady at a pleasant 77 degrees, with light northwest winds creating a crisp and comfortable start to the day.

The break in the heat comes as a welcome relief for residents who endured soaring temperatures and thick humidity throughout the week.

According to the National Weather Service, today is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 5 degrees. A steady northwest breeze will keep the air feeling dry and breathable.
