Police Investigate Early Morning Shots-Fired Incident in Newark's North Ward

Newark police are investigating an early morning shooting in the city’s North Ward after a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the area.

The incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. near 759 Broadway. 

Responding officers arrived at the scene and located shell casings, but no victims were found.

Detectives from the Newark Shooting Response Team are canvassing the area and are leading the investigation. 

The motive for the gunfire remains unclear, and no arrests have been reported at this time.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
