Over 40 Shots Fired in Paterson Shooting; One Critically Injured

Authorities in Passaic County are investigating a violent shooting that left one person critically injured in Paterson late Sunday night.

According to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred just before 10:45 p.m. when a ShotSpotter alert detected over 40 rounds of gunfire in the area of 88 Clinton Street. 

Multiple police units responded to the scene and discovered a crime scene littered with shell casings.

Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect used a rifle during the attack. Officers located a victim at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. 

CPR was administered before the individual was transported to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Following a canvas of the area, no other injuries were reported. 

The suspect fled the scene and has not been apprehended. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the shooting.
