Reward Offered in 2020 Newark Homicide Case Behind Elementary School

Essex County Sheriff Amir Jones announced today that a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the 2020 shooting death of a Newark man.

The victim, 23-year-old Mr. Quaze Vines, was fatally shot on November 6, 2020, behind Luis Muñoz Marín Elementary School, located at 663 Broadway in Newark.

Nearly five years later, the case remains unsolved.

“We are urging anyone with information to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help investigators crack this case and bring justice to the victim’s family,” said Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II.

The reward is being offered through the Essex County Crime Stoppers program.
