According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Officer-In-Charge Patrick Murray, Moses Taylor was taken into custody on July 2, 2025, following a joint operation by the United States Marshals Service and the New Jersey State Police.

The arrest occurred without incident in the area of Elmwood Terrace and Donor Avenue in Elmwood Park.

Taylor faces multiple second-degree charges, including Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Weapon.

The investigation stems from a May 18 incident around 4:00 p.m., when Paterson Police responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Spring Street and Hospital Plaza.

While officers found evidence of a shooting at the scene, no victim was located at that time.

The following day, on May 19, a 33-year-old Paterson man sought treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Detectives later determined the man had been shot during the Spring Street incident the previous day.
