According to information released by Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, Teon Macklin-Goodwine was convicted of multiple charges, including felony murder and robbery, for his role in the fatal shooting of Ezekiel Sanders Jr., 32, in January 2022.

After just over two hours of deliberations, a Superior Court jury returned the guilty verdict, convicting Macklin-Goodwine of:

Felony Murder (First Degree)

Robbery (First Degree)

Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Second Degree)

Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (Second Degree)

Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons (Second Degree)

Superior Court Judge Mark P. Tarantino has scheduled sentencing for August 29 in Mount Holly.

The case stems from a January 16, 2022, incident when Maple Shade police officers responded to reports of gunfire at the Fox Meadow apartment complex. Sanders was discovered on Gardenia Drive suffering from gunshot wounds and later died at Jefferson Hospital in Cherry Hill.

Investigators determined that Macklin-Goodwine and a co-defendant, Gregory Berry, 24, of Glassboro, had gone to the apartment complex with the intent to commit a robbery.

Under a plea deal with the Prosecutor’s Office, Berry pleaded guilty in 2023 to aggravated manslaughter and is currently awaiting sentencing. Prosecutors have recommended a 17-year prison term in his case.
