The Union Police Department is actively investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred early Wednesday morning on Route 22 East near Vauxhall Road.
According to officials, the accident took place at approximately 2:07 a.m. when the driver of a vehicle traveling eastbound lost control and collided with a telephone pole.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
As of this report, authorities are withholding the identity of the victim and vehicle details pending family notification.
The Union Police Department’s Fatal Accident Team, led by Officer Steven DeJesus, is handling the investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Traffic Bureau at (908) 851-5070.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
