NJ Woman Accidentally Shoots Herself While Cleaning Gun

A Camden County woman was rushed to the hospital and immediately admitted for surgery Saturday night after she accidentally shot herself while reportedly cleaning or performing maintenance on a firearm, according to preliminary reports.Around 9 p.m., police and EMS units were dispatched to the 90s block of La Costa Drive in Gloucester Township after receiving reports of a person shot. 

When emergency responders arrived, they found a woman, believed to be in her mid-50s, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.

She was transported to a nearby hospital where she underwent surgery. The extent of her injuries has not yet been released.

Although the incident is currently being treated as an accidental shooting, the investigation remains active as police work to confirm the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the weapon. 

The identity of the woman has not been made public.
