Authorities in Passaic County are investigating a shooting that left a 24-year-old Paterson man wounded early Saturday morning.
According to a joint statement from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Patrick Murray, officers were dispatched around 3:21 a.m. on June 14 to the area of Ellison Street and Summer Street in response to reports of gunfire.
Although investigators were able to identify a possible crime scene at that location, no victim was found at the time.
Later in the morning, Paterson Police were notified by Newark Beth Israel Medical Center that a 24-year-old male, a resident of Paterson, had arrived at the hospital seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Further investigation revealed that the man had been shot near the same intersection of Ellison and Summer streets.
The shooting remains under investigation.
