A woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a head-on crash caused by wrong-way driving early Sunday morning in Bergen County.
According to officials, emergency crews were dispatched to Route 17 near Route 120 in Carlstadt around 1:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a multi-vehicle collision.
When responders arrived, they found several damaged vehicles at the scene.
Several individuals were treated for injuries, though none were considered life-threatening.
Investigators determined that the woman was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 17 when the crash occurred.
During the investigation, she reportedly admitted to officers that she had been drinking at an event earlier in the night and was on her way home at the time of the incident.
The crash remains under investigation by the Carlstadt Police Department.
