Authorities Investigating Deadly Shooting of Howell Township Man

Law enforcement officials are investigating the fatal shooting of a Howell Township resident whose body was found inside a vehicle early Thursday morning, according to a statement released by Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

The incident unfolded around 6:41 a.m. on June 5, 2024, when Howell Township police officers responded to a report on White Street. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive man inside a vehicle. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has since been identified as 36-year-old Rolando Acte Mejia, a resident of Howell Township.

The investigation is being led by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau in collaboration with the Howell Township Police Department.

Authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding potential suspects or a motive.
