Emergency crews responded to a serious crash early Thursday morning near Kean University that left at least three people injured.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 6:22 a.m. at the intersection of Morris Avenue and Green Lane, just outside the Green Lane building on the university campus.
Union Police, firefighters, and EMS units arrived to find two vehicles with significant damage and multiple occupants trapped inside.
Emergency responders worked quickly to extricate those involved in the crash.
At least three individuals were transported to University Hospital in Newark. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.
Traffic remains heavily backed up along Morris Avenue in both directions near Green Lane, and drivers are urged to avoid the area while the scene remains active.
Authorities from the Union Police Department are expected to release additional information as the investigation continues.
