A Fairview firefighter has been arrested following an investigation into missing funds from a local fire department account, according to information released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities say 29-year-old Adrian Oceguera of Weehawken was taken into custody on May 22, 2025, after investigators uncovered a pattern of unauthorized financial activity linked to Tiger Hose Company 1, a division of the Fairview Fire Department.
According to prosecutors, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit launched an inquiry in January after receiving a tip about possible theft within the fire department.
The probe revealed a series of ATM withdrawals and unauthorized purchases made between January 2023 and November 2024.
Oceguera, who served as both a firefighter and the account treasurer for the company, is accused of using department-linked funds for personal expenses. The total amount allegedly misappropriated was approximately $6,721.

Officials noted that the funds involved were not part of the taxpayer-funded fire department budget managed by the Borough of Fairview but were instead drawn from a separate account.
Oceguera was arrested in Paramus and later released pending a court appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
The investigation was led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.
