A Camden County woman is facing serious charges after police say she abandoned a severely injured dog in a dumpster at an apartment complex earlier this year.

According to a statement released by the Lindenwold Police Department, officers responded to the Belmont Apartments on White Horse Pike in March 2025 after receiving a report of a dog found inside a trash bag.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a small white dog that was still alive but in critical condition, malnourished and suffering from multiple severe injuries.
Following an extensive investigation aided by public assistance, police arrested 38-year-old Turquoise Morton of Lindenwold on May 20th, 2025.
Authorities said she has been charged with abandoning a domestic animal, cruelty to animals, and torture or torment.
Morton was taken into custody and remanded to Camden County Correctional Facility, where she is being held pending a court appearance.

The case was investigated by Patrolman Devon Augello and Detective Joseph Tomasetti and was approved for release by Chief Michael P. McCarthy Jr.
