Jersey City Police Recover Guns, Arrest Suspect After ShotSpotter Alert

Police in Jersey City responded to a ShotSpotter alert Friday night that led to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of two firearms in a residential neighborhood.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Stevens Avenue and Highview Road. 

Officers arrived at the scene and discovered several shell casings, indicating that gunfire had taken place.

While canvassing the area, police spotted a potential suspect fleeing and pursued him on foot. 

The suspect was apprehended near 90 Sterling Avenue. 

During the follow-up investigation, officers recovered two handguns believed to be connected to the shooting.
