Authorities in Newark are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect linked to a shooting that took place earlier this month.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., officers responded to reports of gunfire around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, in the 300 block of South 11th Street.

Upon arrival, police discovered a spent shell casing on the sidewalk and found that a window on the first floor of a nearby residence had been shattered by a bullet.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Witnesses told investigators that two males riding e-bikes were targeted by the suspect, who pulled out a firearm and fired at them.
The two individuals quickly fled the scene, jumping a fence and cutting through a backyard to escape.
Detectives have released a description of the suspect, who is believed to have a slim build and short braided hair.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray and black Nike sweatpants, and black and gray sneakers.
Anyone with information that could assist in identifying the suspect is urged to contact Newark authorities.
