Jersey City police are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Easter Sunday, leaving one man hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to authorities, the gunfire erupted around 1 a.m. in the area of 73 Orient Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the scene following a ShotSpotter activation and discovered an unidentified male suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment and is expected to recover.

In a related response, officers also canvassed the area of Bergen Avenue and Claremont Avenue after a suspect claimed that a gunman had opened fire at him in that vicinity.

It remains unclear if police located any evidence of a crime scene at that location.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Police continue to search for the suspect and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
