The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating a death at the Super 8 Motel in Carlstadt that occurred on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
According to a statement released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 5:11 a.m., on February 28, 2023, the Carlstadt Police Department responded to 395 Washington Avenue after receiving a 911 call of an unresponsive female in one of the motel’s guest rooms.
Upon arrival, officers entered the room using a master key card and found Ms. Karol Mejia, 22, of West New York, deceased.
Bergen County officials said an investigation into the cause and circumstances of the death is ongoing, but a preliminary investigation indicated the death does not appear to involve foul play.
No other injuries were reported.
