Police are on the scene investigating a shooting in Newark North Ward at this time.
Newark Police responded to reports of shots fired near 660 Mount Prospect Avenue at approximately 4:20 p.m.
Several officers arrived and found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but no victims were found after cops canvassed the scene.
Stray bullets struck an unoccupied car.
Police said a black male who wore dark clothing and dreads was observed running from the scene.
Authorities are investigating the motive for the shooting.
