Police reported non-fatal injuries for a male shot near an Essex County park in Newark Friday night.
Several rounds of gunfire erupted on the Park and Highland avenues side of Branch Brook Park around 8:10 p.m., prompting a police investigation.
Units arrived and found a male victim suffering a bullet wound in his leg at that location.
The injured was rushed to University Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
A Newark Crime Scene Unit was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
No arrests have been reported.
