Police officials in Newark are looking into a North Ward shooting that sent a woman to the hospital on Wednesday night.
It happened around 6:15 p.m. near 645 Summer Avenue.
Police responded to reports of shots fired, and when officers arrived at the scene, they found a female suffering gunshot injuries.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in stable condition.
Officers canvassing the scene located shell casings, but no other injuries were reported.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
