Authorities in Newark are investigating a shots fired incident that injured a person in Newark's West Ward Tuesday.
The early morning shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. near 1015 South Orange Avenue.
A ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but no victims were at the scene.
While investigating the shooting, officials at University Hospital alerted police of a person who entered the emergency room suffering bullet wounds.
Police believe that the victim was injured at the South Orange Avenue crime scene.
The extent of the injuries has not been reported as fatal at this time.
No arrests have been reported.
