DEVELOPING: Hospital Walk-in Shooting Victim Struck by Bullet in Newark's West Ward

Police have a crime scene established in a section of Newark's West Ward while detectives search the area for evidence after a male was shot this evening. 

Just before 5:45 p.m., police responded to shots fired on Plymouth Street and Isabella Avenue in the upper West Ward. 

When officers arrived, they found ballistics on the ground, but no victims were located. A car was struck by bullets. 

While police investigated at the scene, officials at University Hospitals notified them that a male entered the emergency department suffering a non-life-threatening bullet wound in his leg. 

Police believe the victim suffered his injury at the Isabella Avenue crime scene. 

The motive for the shooting is under investigation. 

This evening's shooting made nine victims shot in Newark in the last 24-hours. 

The suspect remains at large.
