A car struck a South Wood Avenue home early this morning causing damage to the residence. Police responded to 1410 S. Wood Avenue for a report of a crash shortly after 12:30 a.m. today, Captain James Sarnicki said. The 2005 Dodge Stratus, operated by 19-year-old James H. Foster, of Linden, was traveling east on W. 15th Street and made a left turn onto S. Wood Ave. when he apparently lost control of the vehicle, added Sarnicki. The car mounted a snowbank, jumped the curb, and struck the front of the South Wood Avenue building. The front seat passenger, Gisela Lorde-Aimes, 40, also of Linden, complained of a head injury and was taken to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth by the Linden Fire Department Ambulance, according to police. Foster was issued summonses for being an unlicensed driver, careless driving, and reckless driving. The Linden Fire Department made temporary repairs to the building pending an inspection by the city’s Construction Code Officer to determine structural integrity.
