A gunman fled the scene of a shooting in Newark's Central Ward Sunday.
The early morning shots fired incident happened close to the firehouse and near 381 South 9th Street around 3 a.m.
Police say a ShotSpotter device alerted police of gunfire in the and prompted an officer response.
Arriving units found a shell casing after canvassing the area but no victims.
The motive for the shootings is under investigation and no arrests reported at this time.
