Police located a crime scene in a New Brunswick section connected with a shooting that left a man injured Wednesday evening.
Gunfire erupted in the area Rutgers Street and Lee Avenue around 6:20 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found shell casings, but after a search of the area, no victims were located.
During the investigation, police say officials at Robert Wood Johnson Medical center notified them of a person who entered the emergency room suffering gunshot wounds.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no other injuries were reported.
