Police believe that a gunshot victim who entered a Newark hospital suffered his injuries at a location in the city's Central Ward.
According to authorities, a ShotSpotter device activated on Boyd Street shortly before 2:30 a.m., prompting a police response to the neighborhood.
Officers arrived and found shell casings, but no victims were found after cops canvassed the scene.
Shortly after, police say officials at University Hospital alerted them that a gunshot victim entered the emergency department suffering wounds.
The condition of the victim was not immediately reported as life-threatening at this time.
Police reported no arrests.
