Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the fatal shooting of Dennis M. Brooks, 25, of Newark.
Authorities said Brooks was fatally shot at approximately 7:30 p.m. yesterday in the 200 block of Osborne Terrace in Newark. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 8:09 p.m.
The investigation is active an ongoing. At this time no arrests have been made.
