Police in Newark's East Ward are looking into the motive behind a late Monday night shooting.
It happened just before midnight near 27 Lexington Street.
Police said an armed suspect arrived in the area and began basting several rounds at unknown targets before fleeing the scene on foot.
Officers canvassed the scene and collected shell casings but no victims were found, according to police.
The suspect remains at large.
