Police in Newark are investigating a late-night shooting that injured a person in the city's South Ward.
According to a preliminary investigation, at around 11:30 p.m, police responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of 99 Peshine Avenue.
Upon arrival, police found an unidentified person suffering a bullet wound at that location.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and their injury could not immediately be confirmed as of 4 a.m.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been reported.
