Newark Woman Burned After Lighting Incense that Ignited her Hair

A Newark woman was transported to the hospital after she suffered non-life threatening burns in a section of Newark's Central Ward. 

It happened just before 2 p.m. at 590 Hawthorne Avenue, where Irvington Firefighters handles the call that occurred inside a home just a stone-throw over the border and into Newark. 

According to a preliminary investigation, the woman was reportedly attempting to light some incense on a stove when fire ignited her hair and quickly spread to her face. 

The unidentified woman suffered first and second-degree burns to her face but is expected to recover the preliminary investigation revealed. 

There were no other injuries or any damage to the home reported.
