Firefighters Battle Multi-Alarm Warehouse Fire in Orange

About a dozen fire companies were on the scene of a building fire that erupted in a large vacant warehouse property in Orange on Monday night. 

According to officials, firefighters were called to 531 Mitchell Street after receiving 911 calls of a fire inside the warehouse around 9:20 p.m. 

Firefighters arrived and found heavy smoke pushing from the building, according to fire officials. 

A second then third alarms were activated for man-power after firefighters could not immediately locate the seat of the fire. 

Firefighters from East Orange, West Orange, South Orange, Bloomfield, Irvington, Maplewood, Montclair, Livingston, Cedar Grove, North Caldwell, Caldwell and Verona were involved in the fire operation that was declared under control just for 11:30 p.m. after crews found stubborn flames inside the walls of the building. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
