Newark Police officials are looking into the motive for a shooting that injured a person in a section of the city's Central Ward on Monday night.
According to authorities, police responded to reports of an injured person in the vicinity of 393 Fairmont Avenue shortly before 10:40 p.m.
Units arrived and found the unidentified person suffering bullet wounds at that location.
Police say the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and the extent of their injuries could not immediately be confirmed as of 4:30 a.m.
There is no suspect description at this time.
