Police are reporting serious injuries for a male shot in a section of Newark's Central Ward a short time ago.
According to police, at approximately 10:50 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Seymour and Chadwick avenues.
Police arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering a bullet wound in his back, according to authorities.
EMS transported the conscious and alert victim to University Hospital for treatment while detectives canvased the scene for evidence and possible suspects. A crime scene is established in the 500 block of Clinton Avenue.
Please avoid the area for the investigation. There are no arrests reported at this time.
