EMS transported an adult male to University Hospital for treatment after he was found in a section of Newark suffering gunshot injuries.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the area of South 8th Street and 15th Avenue around 12:45 p.m.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim -in his mid 20's- bleeding from his back after a gunman fired him then ran from the scene.
Police say a search of the area revealed multiple shell casings and a vehicle struck by bullets.
The victim remains in the hospital in serious condition and the motive for the attack is under investigation.
