Police in Newark are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in the city early on Tuesday morning.
According to police at approximately 2:25 a.m. on September 1, police responded to the area of South 12th Street and Springfield Avenue on a report of shots fired.
Police report that when officers arrived they found shell casings and taped off that area to investigate. A search of the area turned up no victims.
Police say that the suspect fled the scene in a dark vehicle and remains at large.
Newark Police are also investigating another shots fired incident at 18th and Vermont avenues in the West Ward.
