There is an active search underway for two suspects who approached a man in Newark’s North Ward then fired shots into his abdomen before running from the scene.
It happened around 7:47 p.m. near the intersection of Park Avenue and Parker Street.
Police said the two suspects exited a dark truck and began firing multiple shots that struck the victim then damaged five vehicles at that location.
According to police, the unidentified victim was rushed to University Hospital in serious condition.
The suspects were last seen speeding away on Ridge Street.
In one of the city’s most violent single 24-hour periods, there were about ten shots-fired incidents that connected on five confirmed victims with one of the victims, a 21-year-old woman, killed at a housing development in Newark’s West Ward.
Newark also had a deadly stabbing outside of Penn Station this afternoon.
No arrests have been reported in any of the incidents.
