Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for a shooting that injured a male this afternoon in Newark.
According to police, at approximately 2:05 p.m., gunfire rang out in the 100 block of Brunswick Street near Astor Street.
Units arrived at the scene found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after they search the area, no victims were found.
Police say a short time later, officials at University Hospital notified authorities of a male victim suffering bullet wound who was dropped off in a private vehicle.
The victim suffered serious injuries, according to police.
Officers found shell casings and a car struck by bullets on Brunswick Street.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
